NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers University expects to lay off workers and raise tuition this fall as aid from the state government is slashed.
But university officials say they don’t know how deep the cuts might be. University departments have until the end of the month to submit potential spending cuts.
In an e-mail to faculty, staff and students, President Richard McCormick pledged Wednesday not to balance the New Jersey university’s budget on the backs of students.
